The transmission distance of the multimode fiber is 300m ( or 550 meters), and the transmission distance of the single mode fiber is 3000 meters. The specification requires fiber media converter with relatively expensive long wave laser.

B) 1000Base-SX specification: the specification is the parameters of multimode fiber of short distance the media converter uses MM fiber and short wave CD (compact disc) or VCSEL laser and the transmission distance is up to 300m ( or 550 meters) .

C) 1000BASE-CX specification: using short distance shielded twisted pair STP, its transmission distance is 25m, which is mainly used to connect high-performance servers and high-speed peripherals between distribution lines by using short patch cords.
